Job Description: The Digital Media Distribution department is relatively new and was developed as a revenue source of utilizing the vast photographic archive of NBC Universal. We are organizing, archiving and digitizing NBC's archive of over 2 million images. We then retouch and clean the digital images, apply metadata, and upload them to our website that caters to the entertainment industry. We also handle a growing subset of current programming that includes talk shows, events, and news related images. We have a small staff so there are many great opportunities to contribute to our team as an intern.
Projects vary and may include the following: adding captioning to images in Adobe Bridge or Photo Mechanic; editing and doing minor retouching/cropping in Adobe Photoshop or Photo Mechanic; resleeving negatives into archival materials; organizing boxes of analog archival images; data entry of archival materials into existing Excel spreadsheet; taking inventory of archival materials; and/or, organizing and cleaning archival storage areas.
Preferred qualifications include the following: experience with analog photography, such as handling negatives and prints; experience with digital photography and working with Adobe Photoshop and Bridge CS3 or Photo Mechanic, organized, punctual, resourceful, attention to detail, a love of photography and the entertainment industry.
NBCU interns MUST meet the following criteria:
*Enrolled at an accredited college or university.
*On track to receive a bachelor or advanced degree from a college or university.
*Able to provide proof of credit from your college or university prior to starting the assignment.
*Currently of sophomore standing or above.
